Expressions of Interest - Trainer/Assessor

The Federation of Western Australian Police and Community Youth Centres (WA PCYC) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated Trainers to be appointed to full-time, part-time or casual vacancies which may arise during the 2017 school year up to the end of Term 2 2018. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2017 school year up to the end of Term 2 2018.

Who we are: Established in Western Australia in 1941, The Federation of Western Australian Police and Community Youth Centres (WA PCYC) is a not-for-profit organisation that creates opportunities for young people through the delivery of two broad youth services: development (intervention) programs and recreational activities.  We manage in excess of 50 PCYC Centres and Blue Light Units throughout metropolitan and regional Western Australia, with the Head Office located in Cloverdale.

Position Profile: As a Trainer you will be required to deliver nationally accredited training programs in variety of disciplines including Leadership, Automotive and Construction to disengaged youth. This position will work with youth, including those identified as 'at risk,' to meet program objectives and outcomes set by PCYC and the funding bodies. The Trainer will have responsibility to plan course sessions, deliver courses, monitor participants' progression, manage participant attendance and assess participant competency.

We are specifically looking for Trainers with following background/qualifications:

  • Certificate I in Leadership
  • Certificate I in Hospitality
  • 2nd Class Welding Qualification 
  • Certificate I in Construction

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (essential)
  • Experience working with and capacity to build relationships with young people, specifically youth at risk.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and delivering accredited training programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in course/program coordination  
  • Experience in identifying and assessing learning gaps and developing programs to address these gaps.
  • Strong communication and self-organisation skills
  • Strong computing skills using a range of computer applications including Microsoft Office.
  • You have or are willing to obtain a National Police Clearance and Working with Children's Check.
